![]() Random guys on motorbikes and other sporty vehicles have shadowed me lately and some drove alongside the Mustang to check it out, to then accelerate and pass with a thumbs-up. While its appeal should be global, the car still attracts traditional muscle car enthusiasts. How the folks at Ford can give us this much power at $40k, I don't know. Some people may decry the morphing of the new Mustang look from retro Americana to sleek James Bond, but I think it remains the icon, only with a style and driving dynamics that finally caught up to discerning global tastes at a value proposition that's simply unbeatable. So I loved it from the beginning, but then I'm from Europe and would prefer a slim, elegant vehicle over a box on wheels, especially one that looks this great and has a powerful engine with manual transmission at a price that only gets me a third of an equally powered Mercedes-Benz AMG of BMW M series. If you are tall, can control the lead in your foot, and love night drives with the top down ( or during the day for you people who don't mind the sun beating down on you) than this is the car for you. Not even a month into getting the car, I had my first speeding ticket followed shortly after by two more. ![]() Than I unleashed the power of this car and also speeding tickets. It is a struggle for her to even press the clutch down all the way so I do all of the driving. I am 6ft and 3 inches tall and I can drive it for a 2 day road trip without any problems. It isn't a car for short people with the manual option. I would have to say that there aren't many things that I don't like about it. When driving next to cars who think they are faster, they get really surprised when you leave them in the dust. The trunk is roomy enough for a big cooler and several overnight bags. It is very comfortable to drive for long hours on road trips. It is not bad on the gas at roughly around 25 mpg. It knows how to hug the curves quite nicely. ![]() When going around very sharp curves, it doesn't hesitate. You can make many different combos of lights with the M圜olor system. The inside is beautiful with leather seats and a nice carbon finish to the door panels and instrument panels. They certainly nailed it on looks! And it’s this car’s looks that are a bit painful to the eyes. The 2012 Ford Mustang GT/CS Convertible is a dream to drive. This is a shame! The ’69 and ’70 Mustang Mach I’s were admirable cars, even when not powered with a performance-oriented motor. It’s more of a no canvas than a blank canvas. There are no seats or door cards, no nothing really. Inside is worse than the outside! The floors are rusted through, the dash and instrument panel are gone though the gauge bezel may be included in the parts pile. The wheels are a bit hard to discern, besides the obvious corrosion, they look like a cross between an American Racing Torque-Thrust and a Cragar S/S. It would appear as if this Mach I was parked outside for a lengthy period, windows down, maybe trunk ajar, and thus the rust pit that exists today. The structure, trunk, and floor rust are considerably worse than that in the exterior body panels, though those panels are hardly free of the dreaded tin worm. Yes, rust-through is seriously plaguing this Mustang. Troubling, is the assertion, “ has a lot of good parts but rust in frame rail an some in torque box“. Other items like bumpers, headlights, taillights, and grilles are missing though some may be ensconced in the previously referenced pile-o-parts. It’s definitely a Grabber Blue Mach I but rust, dents, and bent sheet metal abound. There is a pile of parts that are included in the sale but the focus needs to be more on the structure and integrity of the unibody – what’s here does not present well. ![]() The seller states that he doesn’t know what transmission was attached to the 351, though the listing states, “automatic”. As you’ll note, I said “originally” as it’s now powered by gravity at best – it’s a roller. Viewing the VIN tells us that this forlorn Ford is a genuine Mach I but it was originally powered by a 250 HP, 351 CI V8, so a performance maven, it wasn’t. This Mach I is located in Great Mills, Maryland and is available, here on eBay for a current bid of $2,175, with twenty-seven bids tendered so far. ![]() Which way does this Mustang lean? Let’s look it over and find out. The seller suggests that this Mustang either needs a complete restoration or could be used for parts – but then that’s usually true of most old cars, some just lean more in one direction than they do in the other. And now for something from the “ouch” department, a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach I. ![]()
